Wood Engraving, Linocut Prints, & Monoprints

Each print is an exploration of human connection to place, and how the shifting energies of a place influence perception of the landscape. I frequently work on location in nature, including sketching, carving, and printing. I find that one location can be interpreted in an infinite amount of ways and seek to translate this in my work.

I utilize both single-layer carving and reduction techniques. Each block is hand carved and one of a kind. During reduction printing the block is actually destroyed in the process as only the final layer remains.

My preferred mediums for monoprinting are watercolor and relief ink. I use hard maple, pearwood, and lemonwood for wood engraving, and standard soft linoleum for linocut.
